What is the benefit for our volunteers?

Aside from the benefits that come with helping to make the world a better place to live, there are many other benfits to volunteering your time with CTO.

1. Volunteers broaden their professional experience by working on exciting projects outside their normal day-to-day work.

2. Working with us is a way for engineers to get more experience working directly with customers. This can not only lead to industry contacts and potential subcontracting opportunities, but that personal interaction can give a sense of fulfillment that is otherwise difficult to achieve in the the technology industry.

3. Working with other volunteers can help you meet new professionals in the area. This means more exchange of knowledge and a greater connection to your community.

What Kinds of Work Might a Volunteer Do?

Generally, projects fall into one of these categories:

• Technical Education – Working with community schools to implement technology education programs
• Web Content – Helping .orgs establish a web presence either for external advertising or internal coordination.
• IT – Helping organizations with their IT growing pains
• Software – Interviewing, contract and specification review, and help in purchasing software

Becoming Part of the Organization

We believe in delivering the highest-quality output for our customers and so growing the organization is done with the utmost care. You will have to provide a resume and references, then meet with the board in person for an interview. If you will be working with our project with public schools, you will also have to pass a background check.
